A Place in the Sun fans tell guest to ‘get real’ with big demands on £50k budget

A Place in the Sun got people hot and bothered when a "picky" guest wanted a two-bedroom apartment near the sea in Spain with a swimming pool on a budget of £50,000.

Presenter Laura Hamilton was in Tuesday's episode (June 8) on the Channel 4 show and she had a hard time trying to find suitable picks for cash-buyer Sharon.

The hospital worker was keen to be near the center of the city of Torrevieja and had previously lived in Spain for three months and fallen in love with the family-orientated lifestyle.

She brought along her best friend Christiana to help her pick the ideal place.

"This is going to be tricky," Laura confessed in the voiceover, "they have a long list of requirements and I think they’re going to have to compromise."

Sharon said some of the properties didn't give off a "holiday" vibe and she didn't feel she would look forward to visiting them – which ideally she would like to be doing every six weeks.

Unfortunately, after a long and mostly fruitless search, Sharon only liked property number three out of the five shown to her by Laura.

The one-bedroom apartment was close to the beach and all the local shops, bars, and restaurants and was on the market for €53,700 (£46,210).

It lacked its own swimming pool which was a sticking point for Sharon and she was left on the fence.

Discussing the flat with Laura, she said: "Let's just come back a few steps. It looks great but we need to do a bit of due diligence first. I'm hoping to put an offer down in the next week."

Laura said: "Why don't we do it? Why don't we put an offer forward? What is stopping you? You know the property market is moving here really quickly."

It was revealed at the end of the episode that Sharon had decided not to put down an offer.
