'American Horror Stories': Season Finale Rumored Episode Name and Plot, Revealed

Fans of Ryan Murphy’s work know American Horror Story quite well. Now, everyone’s watching the spinoff, American Horror Stories. The new series has the same feel as the original AHS, but each episode features a new storyline and cast of characters. Now, we have rumors regarding what’s going to happen at the end of the first season. Here’s what we know.

[Spoiler alert: Spoilers ahead for American Horror Stories Season 1 Episodes 1, 2, and 3, and possible rumors for the season finale.]

‘American Horror Stories’ is an anthology spinoff of Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Horror Story’

AHS certainly isn’t over, as Murphy has plenty of new ideas to contribute to his original series. But, in the meantime, fans can enjoy American Horror Stories.

The first two episodes of the series brought back the lore from Murder House, season 1 of the original AHS. Scarlett moved with her two fathers into the infamous house known for killing newcomers and having their ghosts haunt the property. While Scarlett manages to escape the home, she leaves her ghost lover, Ruby, behind. And she also does some killing of her own. The third episode, “Drive In,” features a new cast watching a “forbidden film” that results in a ton of a death.

While the new series calls back a number of aspects fans know and love about the original AHS, Scarlett actor Sierra McCormick confirms the spinoff brings something new to the table. “I actually didn’t watch back any of the original performances, because I knew that [American Horror Story creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk] were trying to make [American Horror Stories] its own thing,” she told The Wrap.

Rumored plot details and the episode name of the season finale

We’re eager to see how American Horror Stories wraps up the first season. According to Murphy, the debut spinoff season will have 16 episodes. “We are doing 16 one-hour stand-alone episodes delving into horror myths, legends, and lore … many of these episodes will feature AHS stars you know and love,” he tweeted. But according to spoiler account AHSCrave, that’s not the case. Instead, the season is rumored to cut off at seven episodes.

AHSCrave’s Instagram notes the final episode — episode 7 — is called “Game Over.” The tagline for the episode is allegedly, “A couple dares to spend the night in one of the most infamous haunted houses.”

This follows suit with the previous rumors regarding episode 7. AHSCrave previously reported fans will see the murder house set aflame. Additionally, the account notes Mercedes Mason and Nicholas Bechtel will play a mother-son duo in the finale.

Is ‘American Horror Stories’ only on Hulu?

So, how can fans watch American Horror Stories? Currently, the episodes are streaming only on Hulu. FX decided to partner with the streaming platform for the spinoff.

New episodes of the spinoff are available on Thursdays. If Murphy’s original prediction that the show will have 16 episodes is correct, this means the spinoff will have new episodes well into October 2021. If there are only seven episodes, as seems to be the current rumor (unless the season is split into two), the season will end mid-August before the premiere of AHS: Double Feature. We look forward to seeing what’s in store for Stories and AHS moving forward.

Hulu did not return a request for comment regarding the season finale of American Horror Stories by the time of publication.
