Avengers Endgame: You will not BELIEVE how many MILLIONS Robert Downey Jr’s salary was
It’s been 11 years since the Marvel Cinematic Universe started and Robert Downey Jr’s salary per movie has skyrocketed. Having started out on $500,000 for the first Iron Man movie, the 54-year-old took a staggering $50 million for the first Avengers in 2012. Come the third outing Avengers Infinity War last year and Downey Jr made at least $75 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources. And now Forbes have revealed his salary for this year’s finale Avengers Endgame.
The business magazine saw Downey Jr paid an upfront salary as high as $20 million.
However, the real weight of his Avenges Endgame pay came from the film’s box office profits.
For Downey Jr this was around 8% in back-end points, making his takings here around $55 million.
So that’s $75 million in total for Avengers Endgame, bringing his takings for the last couple of years to at least $150 million.
Meanwhile, Downey Jr has been calling on fans to go and see the Avengers Endgame re-release.
The Marvel epic is now just $14.2 million away from topping Avatar’s record as the highest-grossing movie of all time.
To give the film that extra nudge, Marvel Studios re-released Avengers Endgame with bonus content after the end credits.
This included an introduction from directors Joe and Anthony Russo, a Stan Lee tribute, an unfinished Hulk deleted scene and the opening of Spider-Man Far From Home.
The Iron Man star wrote on Twitter: “Get a new re-release on life and make #ENDGAME #1…
“C’ mon, there’s ‘new stuff’ and everything…”
The tweet included the Avengers Endgame re-release poster of the Stark Gauntlet in a fist, with the line “We Love You 3000” below it.
Avengers Endgame is re-released in UK cinemas tomorrow.
