Bake Off 2022 announces first contestant to leave tent after opening episode

The Great British Bake Off announced the first contestant to leave the 2022 tent on Tuesday night after it returned with a new batch of amateur bakers.

During the opening episode, the contestants had to create mini sandwich cakes, a red velvet cake and a showstopper 3D replica of their home.

However, as Janusz was crowned Star Baker for his incredible creations, it was sadly time for another baker to leave the tent as Will was sent home.

Will, 45, a former charity director from London, failed to impress the judges with his "messy' and "bland" ginger and caramel squares.

While next up, the contestant finishes in ninth place out of twelve bakers for his "all over the place" creation.

And for the final challenge, despite impressing with the appearance of his North London flat block cake, the judges said that the sponge was sadly "overbaked".

Talking about his exit, Will said: "Somebody has got to go first, I'm disappointed but proud to have made it here."
