BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty fires cheeky ‘trouble’ jibe at weatherman

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty couldn’t resist firing a swipe at weatherman Matt Taylor during today’s show (May 14).

Matt was presenting the forecast from the Tower of London following the news that two new ravens will be joining the iconic conspiracy of birds at the popular attraction.

To introduce the forecast, Naga said: “Matt is at the Tower of London today, he’s not in any trouble. Some rather beautiful views there of the tower.

“Slightly dappled grey skies and Matt will bring you more. You’re not in any trouble are you?”

But before Matt could reply, Naga cheekily quipped: “For once.”

The meteorologist managed to see the funny side and replied: “I don’t know given the forecasts recently and the way May has been going I’m not quite so sure.

“So when the boss said ‘I’m sending you off to the tower’ I was a bit nervous.”

Matt’s comments come as the miserable weather so far seen during May looks set to continue.

Most parts of the UK will remain dry today but rain will sweep in across the south east on Saturday (May 15).

Hail, thunder and lightning could be seen and showers will be more widespread across the country on Sunday (May 16).

It is not the only time Naga has made a cheeky dig at her colleagues on BBC Breakfast this week.

Weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood was the focus of her attention yesterday (May 13) after she delivered a rather depressing forecast.

Naga jokingly said it was “very much appreciated” that her counterpart used a golfing term during her weather report.

But when she saw what was actually to come, she added “although your temperatures are not”.

Earlier this week, fellow presenter Louise Minchin sparked a frenzy online after opting for a bright yellow top for the day.

Fans jokingly begged her to change as they were distracted by the luminous outfit so much.
