The Chase host Bradley Walsh poked fun at a contestant after she revealed she was learning the Welsh language.

Contestant Bex told Bradley that she wanted to learn the language after living there when she was at university, but later admitted she could only read and write after Bradley threw some phrases at her.

"I can't have the conversation yet but I can read and write it better," she told Bradley before explaining that she wanted to move back to Wales.

When Bradley threw a Welsh phrase at her, she stared blankly at the presenter before stating: "I don't know!" and holding up her thumbs adding: "This is going great."

Bex told Bradley that she planned on using the cash prize she hopes to win to buy a house in Wales, to which Bradley replied in Welsh, confusing Bex further.

She simply replied 'Okay' in Welsh, which Bradley didn't seem to understand, confessing: "Well I've been speaking arabic!"

Fans were doubly confused by the Welsh exchange, with one tweeting: "Why is Brad trying to speak Welsh and sounding Irish, sounded like my Irish dad."

While others were annoyed at Bradley mocking the Welsh language in his mini-skit. One fan fumed: "Bet Brad wouldn’t be allowed to take the piss out of any other language like he did with Wales and Ireland."

"Mocking an entire nations native language there. Typical," a second added.

As she made it through to go against The Governess with £3,000 Bradley kept speaking to her in Welsh before secretly switching the language to his own made-up gibberish, throwing Bex off as she tried to understand his nonsense.

Bradley giggled to himself as he teased the young contestant.

Upon making it through to the final round, The Governess admitted that she "couldn't believe" that Bex had made it through and bid her good luck in Welsh, which Bex failed to understand.
