Celebrity Gogglebox signs up David Mitchell and his wife for charity special

Comedian David Mitchell has signed up for Celebrity Gogglebox, Hot TV can reveal.

The comic, 46, is set to appear on the hit show alongside his wife Victoria Coren, who he married in 2012.

An insider said: “Producers are always on the lookout for new faces to join Celebrity Gogglebox and they are so pleased to have David and Victoria on board.

“They both have big followings so this will be great for the show.”

David and Victoria became couch potatoes when they did their filming stint for the show last weekend.

Their appearance will feature in a charity special this Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.

It is being shown to raise funds and awareness of the network’s Stand Up To Cancer appeal.

Our insider said: “David and Victoria jumped at the chance to help.”

David is best known for his work on Mitchell and Webb and Peep Show, alongside fellow comedian Robert Webb.

Other stars set to be on the special include comic Mo Gilligan, the stars of Line of Duty and The Who frontman Roger Daltrey.

Gogglebox, which launched in 2013, is a hit with more than five million viewers.

There will also be a special edition of The Last Leg on Friday from 10pm.

The charity special will be replacing the usual episode of Gogglebox, which follows families around the UK watching their favourite shows.

However, the beloved stars of the Channel 4 show, including Jenny and Lee, the Malones, and the Siddiquis will be back on air the following week.

The Celebrity Gogglebox special airs on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
