Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror special Death To 2020 cast revealed

The cast for the upcoming Black Mirror special Death To 2020 on Netflix has been revealed – and it boasts of some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Word of the new episode erupted last week when Hugh Grant shared he’d signed up to feature in the project, with co-creator Charlie Brooker posting a sneaky teaser soon after.

Netflix confirmed the mockumentary involves Pulp Fiction’s Samuel L. Jackson, Friends star Lisa Kudrow, and Ghostbusters actress Leslie Jones.

Joining them is Stranger Things actor Joe Keery, Silicon Valley’s Kumail Nanjiani, Golden Globe-winner Tracey Ullman, How I Met Your Mother actress Cristin Milioti, and Truth Seekers star Samson Kayo.

Deadline reports that comedian and actress Diane Morgan has also signed up for the project, although she won’t be resuming her iconic Wipe role of Philomena Cunk.

An official synopsis for the episode has arrived too, and it sounds as though Death To 2020 will be in a similar vain to Brooker’s legendary Wipe shows.

The logline reads: ‘2020: A year so [insert adjective of choice here], even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up… but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a little something to add.

‘Death To 2020 is a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was — and perhaps still is?

‘This landmark documentary-style special weaves together some of the world’s most (fictitious) renowned voices with real-life archival footage spanning the past 12 months.’

Last week, Brooker dropped a cryptic 10-second video that appeared to confirm his latest project will be making its way to to the streaming service shortly.

‘The creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make this year up, but they do have something to add,’ read the text on the screen as ominous violin music played out.

‘Death to 2020.Only on Netflix. Coming soon.’
