Bargain Hunt continues to air on BBC One on weekdays and the series attracts antique lovers from across the country. The series has been on air since March 2000 and it has seen a number of iconic presenters come and go. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about Charlie Ross, including his age.
How old is Bargain Hunt’s Charlie Ross?
Charlie Ross is a British antiques expert and auctioneer who has presented a number of BBC antiques programmes.
His career began in 1968 when he started auctioning chickens and turkeys.
The job then took a drastic turn when he progressed to antique furniture, and he later established his own auction house.
The star is known for his appearances on Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and Flog It!
He was born in June 1950, making him 71 years old.
The auctioneer, for many years, worked in California at a car auction.
He is known for bringing in huge profits for charity auctions such as The Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The professional once held the record for the largest Antiques Road Trip profit on a single item.
This was in 2012 when he bought a chipped Staffordshire elephant clock for £8 which was sold for £2,700 at auction.
Charlie is married to his wife Sally and they have two children and four grandchildren.
He said he was very excited to have been made a part of the Bargain Hunt presenting team.
When asked what he would be doing if he was not an antiques expert, he joked: “If I were much better and 50 years younger, I would like to have been a professional cricketer.”
He was asked why Bargain Hunt still attracts so many viewers today and said: “Because of its warmth and its lack of aggression, a rare thing these days!”
Charlie has been a resident auctioneer at MacDougall’s, a Russian art specialist.
He also ran his own auction house in Woburn for more than 25 years.
Charlie continues to be a guest auctioneer at Bainbridges in Ruislip and Hansons in Derby.
He even returned to his former place of work, the Pebble Beach Vintage Car Auction in California, in August 2021.
Following a year away due to the coronavirus pandemic, he returned for a two-day auction.
Despite his age, he has shown no signs of giving up his auctioning or presenting careers just yet.
In Monday’s episode, Charlie will be presenting Bargain Hunt from Hele near Exeter.
He will meet a bottle collector, whilst experts Caroline Hawley and John Cameron help their teams hunt down bargains.
Charlie splits the presenting role on the series with Christina Travanion, Eric Knowles, Anita Manning and Natasha Raskin Sharp.
The original presenters were David Dickinson, followed by Tim Wonnacott and Thomas Forrester.
Bargain Hunt airs on weekdays on BBC One at 12.15pm.
