Coronation Street fans left stunned by Gemma Winters real name on ITV soap
Coronation Street fans were left stunned on Wednesday night's episode after discovering Gemma Winter's real name on the hit ITV soap.
During the latest episode, Gemma confided in brother Paul Foreman that the wedding venue is demanding full payment up front or the whole thing is off.
To which Dee-Dee Bailey later overheard him on the phone to the bank in a bid to help his sister with her wedding plans.
However, soap watchers were left distracted during the scenes as they realised Gemma's real name is in fact Gemini "Gemma" Winter while Paul's real name is Apollo "Paul" Foreman.
Taking to Twitter, one person said: "So Gemma’s real name IS Gemini!?? I thought it was a nickname? #Corrie."
To which a different account replied: "Paul's is Apollo!" with another viewer exclaiming: "I thought they were nicknames!"
However, fans will recall that this isn't new news and their unusual names were in fact revealed on the ITV soap in 2019, where soap watchers were left stunned at the time.
Elsewhere on the episode, Coronation Street fans were left "sobbing" and a "mess" as Evelyn Plummer learnt that her beloved pet dog, Cerberus, was dying.
During the latest episode, Cerberus was still sick and a concerned Tyrone Dobbs suggested they take the poorly dog to the vets to be checked over.
To which the vet suggested it could be food poisoning which Evelyn vehemently denied as she monitors everything he eats and would never feed him anything bad.
However, later during the episode, a guilty Roy Cropper revealed that he dropped an eccles cake in the café and feared that Cerberus may have eaten it.
Evelyn was left furious over the discovery, warning that if anything happens to Cerberus, she will never forgive him.
She then got a call from the surgery as she rushed over to be told by the vet that Cerberus is suffering from kidney failure and the kindest thing to do is put him to sleep.
Later in the episode, both Evelyn and Tyrone said their goodbyes to the beloved pet dog, calling him a "good boy" and their "best friend", before he was tragically put down in heartbreaking scenes.
Soap watchers were understandably left devastated during the scenes, admitting they were "sobbing" and a "mess" as they took to Twitter.
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm.
