Coronation Street fans work out Stephens downfall as he spikes Carlas drink

Coronation Street fans think they have figured out Stephen Reid's downfall after he spiked Carla Connor's drink on Wednesday's episode in a "vile" twist on the ITV soap.

During the latest episode, Carla called a meeting with Sarah Barlow and Stephen, explaining that Sarah is now Head of Design whilst Stephen will be Office Manager.

Determined to have his revenge on Carla, Stephen slipped into the Underworld office with the vial of LSD from Rufus' briefcase and slipped the LSD into Carla's coffee.

After obliviously drinking the hot beverage, Carla headed onto the factory floor, clearly discombobulated and woozy.

And things went from bad to worse later in the Rovers as Stephen spiked Carla's red wine with another vial of LSD.

After calling in at the pub, Peter immediately realised that Carla, whose paranoia was growing by the second, wasn't well and quickly took her home, worrying her psychosis is returning.

In yet another sick move from Stephen, the cobbles murderer then went into Carla's office and deleted a meeting with Dick Haversham from her diary, muddling up her paperwork in the process.

However, soap watchers were quick to speculate Stephen's downfall as they pointed out that the factory has CCTV, which will show him spiking her drink and breaking into her office.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Think Stephen has forgotten there’s CCTV in the factory. #corrie…"

While others questioned if the Rovers has cameras as one viewer tweeted: "Surely the CCTV (if there is any, there b****y should be) in the pub just captured, Stephen, spiking, Carla's, drink! #Corrie."

However, it's likely Stephen has already thought about the CCTV cameras in the factory as viewers will recall that an oblivious Sarah previously told him how to erase footage after he murdered Teddy Thompkins, which had been recorded.

Elsewhere, other soap watchers were quick to slam evil Stephen over the latest twist as one person tweeted: "Stephen is vile. #Corrie."

A different account put: "Feel totally sick watching Stephen spike Carla's drink, then smirking as he sees her drink it. He truly is desperate low life #Corrie."

Another viewer wrote: "Having Stephen target Carla now is a step too far #Corrie."

While a different soap watcher added: "Stephen spiked Carla's coffee [shocked emoji] im still annoyed with Sarah bringing up Carla's mental health yet again #Corrie."
