Coronation Street star caught up in real life drama as their home is raided by cops | The Sun

FORMER Corrie star Melanie Hill was caught up in real life drama today after an apartment in her block was raided by cops.

The actress, best known for playing Cathy Matthews, was spotted arriving back at her central Manchester pad today amid a heavy police presence.

Joined by her husband, Melanie kept her head down as she made her way into the property.

A number of other Corrie stars are believed to live or stay in apartment blocks surrounding Melanie’s one as they are located very near to the set.

Maureen Lipman, Charlotte Jordon and Chris Gascoigne have all stayed there at some point, as has Countdown star Rachel Riley.

An insider said: “The apartments are really lovely but there has been a bit of bother with police recently.

“No one wants to arrive home to police cars around their home, so everyone is hoping the bad apples are removed quickly.”

Melanie made the decision to leave the show last year, saying the Covid pandemic made her think about her future.

She told the Mirror: "It’s not been an easy thing to decide. My family has been important but the pandemic has made a lot of people think about the future.

“It has changed a lot of things in my head. You’ve just got to see what’s important to you.

“I absolutely love everybody but it’s made me think about my family a lot and what the priorities are in my life.”

She said ITV bosses did not kill off her character Cathy, meaning she could return to Coronation Street one day.

Melanie first appeared in Coronation Street in 2015 when she was introduced as a potential love interest for Roy Cropper.
