Corrie Wendy Crozier stars life – In bed with Ken Barlow to rival soap roles
Coronation Street viewers will receive a blast from the past when Wendy Crozier returns to the cobbles in upcoming scenes.
Wendy was last seen in Weatherfield over a decade ago – and has now returned as a foster carer for Abi Webster's baby Alfie.
However, after her affair with Ken Barlow in 1989 and failed rekindling of their romance back in 2012, what does this mean for Wendy?
And how will she feel if she bumps into Ken again?
While viewers wait to see if Wendy and Ken's romance will blossom again, Daily Star takes a look inside the life of Coronation Street Wendy Crozier actress Roberta Kerr.
Rival soap roles
Although one of Roberta's most famous roles was as Wendy Crozier in Coronation Street, the actress first made her TV debut in another rival soap.
From 1984-1985, Roberta played Sally Haynes in the Channel 4 soap Brookside, and later landed a role as Jan Glover in ITV's Emmerdale from 1994-1998.
She also had a role as Judge Barrett in Hollyoaks in 2017 – making her one of the actors to have appeared in most of the UK's soap operas.
That's not all, as the actress has also appeared in some of the UK's biggest TV programmes including Casualty, Doctors, Downton Abbey and The Royal Today.
'In bed with Ken Barlow'
Roberta Kerr's character Wendy Crozier is well known to Coronation Street fans, after she first appeared in Weatherfield in 1989.
From there, Wendy became involved in a huge affair with Ken Barlow after she landed a job working alongside him on the local newspaper.
However, their affair ultimately led to the breakup of Ken's marriage to Dierdre Barlow – with Ken losing his job at the paper.
Although Wendy later left the cobbles in 1990, she came back in 2012 and it is yet to be seen if romance is on the cards again for Ken.
Speaking about the upcoming scenes on This Morning, Ken Barlow actor William Roache teased that a few old flames from Ken's past will be returning to the cobbles – so what will this mean for him and Wendy?
He said: "I’ve got two ex-girlfriends, Rula Lenska – who plays Claudia Colby – and Wendy Crozier, and they’ll be back in a few weeks.
"It’s lovely to go over all that. The great thing about Coronation Street is not many things have been going for 60 years so you can just draw on its own history."
Shock Corrie return
Roberta Kerr made a shock return to Coronation Street on June 17, 2022 – over a decade since she last appeared on the cobbles.
Now known as Wendy Papadapoulos, née Crozier, who becomes a foster career to baby Alfie and mum Abi Webster after they were placed in a mother and baby foster facility, following Abi's court appearance.
Roberta was last seen on the cobbles in 2012, when her character was a council source for Ken Barlow – and Wendy tried to rekindle their former romance.
However, Ken Barlow stayed his distance from Wendy after their affair over 30 years ago led to him losing his job and love of his life Dierdre – before he and Diedre got back together again.
When asked if Wendy and Ken's romance will be rekindled this time around, Roberta told Digital Spy: "Who knows what's going to happen there!"
While viewers will have to wait and see whether their love will blossom once more, Roberta hinted that there will be tensions with the Barlows – particularly Tracy.
"Tracy is not going to let Wendy get back in Ken's life, is she?" said Roberta.
"Kate [Ford] and I have done one of those scenes with verbal sparring and that was great.
"It will be interesting because there's the slight complication of Tracy and Abi being friends, so that's another aspect. We'll have to see how that plays out."
Although there may be drama ahead for Wendy, fans cannot wait to see the character back on screen, with one fan saying on social media: "I am a million times more excited about a Wendy Crozier return than I am about a week of 'chaos and carnage'."
A second excitedly added: "Wendy Flamin' Crozier!"
Roberta is not the only famous star in her family, as her husband is also an actor too.
The star is married to Graeme Kirk, who appeared in Brookside as Jack Martell in 1983.
He also had multiple roles in Coronation Street between 1985-1990, as well as appearing in TV programmes including Children's Ward, Seaview and Jupiter Moon.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
