Corrie's Catherine Tyldesley reveals baby girl's name is tribute to past role

Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has revealed her baby daughter’s name – and it’s actually a tribute to one of her past roles.

We absolutely love to see it.

The star, who played Eva Price on the cobbles, also shared an adorable first glimpse of her little one, who she welcomed with her partner Tom Pitfield in April.

Catherine and Tom have named their daughter Iris Ella, after the actress played a character called Iris Moss in BBC drama Lilies in 2007.

She explained she’d ‘loved it ever since’.

The tot’s middle name is also a tribute to Tom’s late grandmother.

‘These first few weeks have been so precious. I’ve been living my best life,’ the actress told Hello!.

‘Iris will find her own way and decide what she likes. But for now, I’m going with the pink. I am a very girlie girl.’

Catherine, 38, revealed that she had a super quick birth, with Iris being born two weeks overdue and within minutes of the pair arriving at the hospital after the actress was induced.

‘Even though it was super-fast and we were both in complete shock, it was a beautiful birth.’

Iris is the couple’s second child, as they also share their son Alfie.

Catherine and Tom announced the exciting news that they’d welcomed their second child in April, writing on Instagram: ‘We are so happy to announce that our beautiful daughter has arrived. We are grateful beyond words and feel overjoyed that our family is complete.’

However, the star didn’t exactly have the smoothest pregancy, revealing that she suffered loss of vision.

She penned a post on how her pregnancy was vastly different to her first, encouraging people to check in on their pregnant pals.

‘Yes it’s hard – but my daughter is strong and thriving. That is what matters the most,’ she wrote.

‘I am grateful beyond words for this pregnancy- please don’t get me wrong, I know how lucky I am. It’s very difficult for me to admit I’m not firing on a cylinders. It’s very difficult for me to sometimes say “I can’t”.

‘But when I look back on this section of my life – it will feel like such a short space of time. It is a lesson to me- to always check in with my pregnant friends AND their partners!!!’.
