Strictly Come Dancing kicked off its first week of dances last weekend and BBC viewers were thrilled to see the celebrities perform a host of Ballroom and Latin routines. Both Dan Walker and Katie McGlynn impressed the judges but new evidence suggests they could find themselves fighting for survival in the competition. 

Digital marketing agency Mediaworks has used their sentiment analysis tool to revealed which how popular contestants are with Twitter users.

The data from September 18 to 30 shows Dan and Katie are most at risk of finding themselves in the bottom two. 

BBC Breakfast’s Dan looks set to the first Strictly star to be given the boot as he sits at the bottom of the chart.

Coronation Street star Katie and McFly’s Tom Fletcher are joint second to last.

However, Tom and his partner Amy Dowden won’t be performing on Saturday after both testing positive for Covid-19.

This means Katie could find herself in the dangerous dance-off position. 

Last Saturday, Dan and Nadiya Bychkova performed a Quickstep and received an impressive score of 24 from the judges. 

The BBC Breakfast star was given two sevens from Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke. 

He finished fifth on the leaderboard while Katie found herself in the middle of the table in ninth. 

She and Gorka Marquez received a respectful 22 points for their Tango. 

But, if these two celebrities fail to impress the judges on Saturday they will find themselves slipping down the table. 

Dan and Nadia will dance the Paso Doble to Calvin Harris and Rag N Boneman’s Giant.

Katie and Gorka will perform their Jive to Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo.

Will Dan and Katie escape the dreaded dance-off or will they have to fight for their position in the competition?

She’s been given odds of 3/1 but perhaps surprising she found herself in the bottom half of the leaderboard.

Rose and Giovanni Pernice received 22 points for their energetic Jive.

For their second dance, the pair will perform a Salsa to Cuba by The Gibson Brothers.
