Dan Walker and Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova failed to impress the judges last weekend with their Foxtrot. For movie week, the dynamic duo performed a Sleeping Beauty inspired routine to Once Upon a Dream. While viewers praised the BBC Breakfast star for his stunning routine, Anton Du Beke admitted he was “disappointed” by the performance.
At the time, professional dancer Anton pointed out Dan had made a number of mistakes.
He told him: “I wanted to say ‘Rise, Sir Daniel’ but you went wrong.
“I can’t tell you who is more disappointed, me or you.”
“I am absolutely mortified for you,” Anton added as Dan told him: “I am gutted.”
Appearing on Friday’s It Takes Two, Dan and Nadiya spoke with host Rylan Clark-Neal about their performance.
The dad-of-three admitted he felt “gutted” and that he had let his dance partner down.
“I was a bit gutted as I felt we had put so much work into it,” Dan began.
“I really enjoyed dancing to it. Nadiya looked amazing and I felt I let her down a little bit.”
He continued: “All the princesses watching that thinking it was glorious.”
“But I have moved on,” the presenter confessed. “Foxtrot, Fox what?
“We are on to the Cha Cha Cha with Na Na Nadiya this week, so we are ready.”
Turning to Nadiya, Rylan asked: “Were you happy with the performance?”
“It was a really beautiful performance,” the professional dancer explained.
“Obviously those few mistakes he never did before so I understand that feeling that he wanted to do that beautiful Foxtrot we had rehearsed.
“But you know what? It happens. We are here now.”
“We are doing our Cha Cha challenge,” she joked. “So, we are ready.”
On Saturday, Dan and Nadiya will be dancing the Cha Cha Cha to the song Can’t Touch This.
“We love it,” Dan concluded: “It is hard.”
Nadiya interrupted: “Everyone is scared of the Cha Cha Cha. So, when I was planning this, I was like, ‘the most important thing is I want us to have fun’.
“And when you have this song, I mean it is the only way to do it.”
It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
