Dancing on Ice 2020: Trisha Goddard dealt cruel blow hours before live show

Broadcaster and actor Trisha Goddard is set to be the first celebrity to be sent packing from the Dancing on Ice rink, as bookmakers are certain she will be the first celebrity to be eliminated from the series after an underwhelming start.

Last weekend (5 January) marked the return of Dancing on Ice and the first batch of celebrities took to the ice to display their moves.

Magician Ben Hanlin, pop star Ian “H” Watkins, presenter Joe Swash, Coronation Street star Lisa George, and Diversity dancer Perri Kiely, and Trisha were the first celebs to perform.

This week the second batch of celebrities will show off their routines, all of whom will want to avoid the Skate Off.

Technically the first celebrity to leave this year’s competition was Michael Barrymore, after he suffered a broken wrist during training.

Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya was introduced to replace Michael, which has left him a small window to improve as a skater.

Even though Radzi’s had little time to prepare ahead of tonight’s (12 January) performance, he’s not been earmarked as the first celebrity to be voted off.

Bookmakers are convinced Trisha will be the first voting casualty of the show, with her odds resting at a discouraging 5/6.

Last week Trisha and her partner Łukasz Różycki scored 13.5 after a routine set to Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band.

Unfortunately her performance contained a fall, which affected her score.

This low-scoring debut left them rooted to the bottom of the leaderboard, well out of sight of fifth place Joe and his dance partner Alexandra Schauman.

Trisha’s tumble was also the first on-screen fall of the series.

Out of the celebrities left to perform ITV News presenter Lucrezia Millarini is predicted to be the next evictee, with odds of 2/1 on her leaving.

One member of the Dancing on Ice team who has had to step away from the rink this week is Vanessa Bauer.

The pro-skater had a horrendous fall during training, with her head smashing against the rink wall.

After stringent medical checks she has been advised to rest for a week, due to a concussion.

Vanessa, who’s paired with Perri, said that she is “gutted” but will return next week with some exciting new choreography.

Meanwhile it’s been reported that some of the celebrities on the show are concerned by the friendship between judge John Barrowman and Ian, whose dance partner is Matt Evers.

The trio shared a night out in Cardiff, posting snaps on social media of their time together.

A source has complained about the judge and contestants “cosying up”: “It’s not on for the judges to be cosying up to the people they are meant to be judging. They’re obviously great friends so, of course, the fear is they will be treated more positively.”

Dancing on Ice airs tonight on ITV at 6pm.
