EastEnders fans beg Jacqueline Jossa to make a permanent return to soap
EastEnders fans have begged Jacqueline Jossa to make a permanent return to the BBC One soap after the actress recently reprised her role as Lauren Branning.
Jacqueline, 30, returned to Albert Square for the funeral of her character’s step-grandmother Dot Branning earlier this week.
June Brown, who played Dot, passed away in April at the age of 95 and the special episode paid tribute to the star.
And seeing Jacqueline back in Walford left EastEnders fans wanting more.
Taking to Instagram, one of Jacqueline’s 3.5 million followers wrote: “Great to see you in EastEnders again plz come back”.
A second added: “The only uplifting part of Dot’s funeral was seeing you back in Albert Square. You’re an incredible actress and don’t know why you wasted a thought on wondering if you coulfd still slip back into character because you did amazingly!”
They continued: “I didn’t realise how much I missed Lauren and we all want her back. There’s so much more life in that character – please come back to EE one day soon!”
A third wrote: “Absolutely loved seeing you back on EastEnders, please come back for good”.
Jacqueline's return came after she left the soap over four years ago after playing the role of Lauren from 2010 to 2018.
Speaking about the return of her character, Jacqueline told The Express and other media outlets: "I was quite scared and it had only been 4 and a half years.
“But it felt like 33 years. I thought, I can’t remember how to act and then you walk in and see people like Natalie and Scott Maslen and you’re like, ‘Oh there’s Uncle Jack!' I felt like I was home.”
She added: "I was really nervous, I felt I was rusty and I didn’t know if people would still see me as Lauren again.
“But as soon as we were in amongst it and you’re talking about people you know, it’s Dot and you’re catching up with old friends – you get straight back into it.”
Jacqueline also revealed that she found out about her character's return by her agent on WhatsApp.
“It was a WhatsApp message from my agent and they said, ‘You’re not really free these two weeks but you’ve been asked,’ and I was like, ‘We need to move everything’. It was obvious, that was it," she said.
Speaking about her late co-star June, Jacqueline revealed: “I used to be terrified of June.
“Only because it was, what June says goes. She would come in and change the old script…always for the better.
"So I never really learned my lines when we were doing scenes together because I knew she would come in and change this."
She added: "The director would ask, ‘Are you ok with this?’ and I would be like, ‘yes, June said it so we’re doing it.’
