EastEnders fans heartbroken at Chantelle’s ‘last smile’ before Gray murders her

During Tuesday's episode of EastEnders, fans were left devastated as they witnessed what could be Chantelle Atkins' final smile before her murder.

It has already been confirmed that her abusive husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) will murder her this week, and she has been doing everything she can to get away from him.

In the episode, she called Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) from a cafe in Southend to tell him she wanted to "cash in" and be with him – however evil Gray was stood behind her and heard everything unbeknownst to her.

Viewers were devastated seeing Chantelle's sweet smile as she spoke to Kheerat, who she has been having a secret romance with.

One tweeted: "Chantelle wanting to cash in. She looked so full of hope for the first time. Kheerat will be heartbroken when he finds out what happened to her but he won't rest until she and the Taylors get justice."

Another said: "Proper nervous for the nest two episodes of EastEnders – we have probably just seen Chantelle's last true smile."

A third wrote: "A happy smile on EastEnders. Poor Chantelle."

Someone else said: "The Chantelle storyline is actually so hard to watch knowing how it's going to end."

A fifth commented: "Oh no. I can't bear this. I know what will happen to Chantelle but I keep hoping it won't end this way."

And a sixth added: "Watching Chantelle is getting far too hard."
