EastEnders star reveals how she is changing her life now she's cancer-free
Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack has been speaking about the changes she’s now implementing in her life, following the amazing news she’s cancer free.
The actress, known for her role as Ronnie Mitchell in the BBC One soap, first revealed her diagnosis back in August, following Olivia Newton-John’s death.
Sharing a picture on Twitter, she wrote: ‘This was the most magical of evenings. Olivia and Chloe had come to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards. I was so excited and in awe, she was my childhood. I now start my own battle with this disease and am left feeling deeply moved.’
At the start of last month, Samantha revealed she is now cancer free and, reflecting on her journey, has decided to spend time working on a retreat near her home in Valencia, hoping to provide a place where people diagnosed with the disease can rest.
She has also opened up about the lifestyle changes she is planning on making, telling OK! Magazine: ‘I’ll be changing my diet, the way that I live, the amount of stress that I have. I’ll be doing everything I can with nutrition.
‘I’m absolutely going to make sure that I do everything I can to be as healthy as possible and to just look after my body…
‘I’m looking forward to getting to Spain and working out and walking and just taking a breath every now and then.
‘As a working mum, I spent a long time stressing and rushing around and didn’t ever stop to breathe and I’m determined to take that time.’
‘It’s weird because you’re cancer-free… for now’, she added.
‘Anyone that’s had cancer will know that it will always be something you have to consider may come back at some point.’
