Elaine exits Corrie thanks to serial killer Stephen

Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) saw the light last week in Coronation Street as she stood up to Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) and said they can’t be in a relationship anymore.

The huge moment came after Elaine had spent the past few weeks growing suspicious of Stephen. She caught him mocking her and then realised the person on his recent zoom call was actually Gabrielle, Stephen’s ex, and not a business associate.

To make matters worse, Elaine and Tim (Joe Duttine) then found Stephen’s life insurance documents, created with the intention of getting Elaine’s cash when she dies.

An angry Tim confronted Stephen, which resulted in a hospital trip after Stephen smacked his head on the banister and collapsed shortly after.

While in the hospital, Stephen was paid a visit by Elaine and initially, it looked as though she was going to fall for his manipulation and return to his clutches, but a confident Elaine said that she didn’t trust Stephen anymore, and their relationship was over.

In Monday’s (July 24) edition of the ITV soap, Elaine was at Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim’s wondering what to do next.

A visit from Gerry, the tai-chi instructor, saw Elaine conclude that she needed to spend time on herself, revealing to Tim and Sal that she’s going to stay with a friend in Scarborough.

Before Elaine left, she spotted Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) sweeping the path outside the pub. Elaine contemplated warning Jenny about Stephen but decided against it.

She hugged Tim and Sal, promising three rings when she arrives safely and left the cobbles.

But with Elaine set to return, will she end up regretting not telling Jenny about Stephen?
