Manpreet (played by Rebecca Sarker) has become rather suspicious of her sister, Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) of late on Emmerdale after discovering some disturbing truths about her past. During the ITV soap’s Christmas Day episode, it was time to confront the villain about whether she killed her best friend Nadine some years ago, whether she was actually pregnant and whether she was really going to report Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) to children’s services. However, with both women outside the Woolpack when it exploded at the end of the dramatic instalment, it seems Manpreet could be framed for the devastation if her dangerous sibling has anything to do with it.
As Christmas Day arrived in the village, Meena was ready to put her plan to destroy Dawn into action as she made an anonymous call to social services.
Unfortunately for her, Manpreet caught her in the act and as they agreed to spend Christmas Day together, the GP thought she would air some of her concerns about her sister.
After being told by her sibling she was simply trying to be a good neighbour and get Dawn some help, the medical professional asked Meena about Nadine.
Knowing her sister had spoken with Nadine’s sibling Carol, the villain tried to turn the tables, saying the mysterious newcomer was the one who controlled her best friend’s life.
Something didn’t sit well with Manpreet and so she followed the killer around the village and whilst this was happening, another sinister plot was unfolding.
Needing the Woolpack to be brought to its knees so a new development could go ahead, Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) devised a plan to blow it up.
Putting a metal utensil in the microwave, he timed the device to go off at a certain time and left the gas hob on.
He managed to get himself an alibi as he spent the rest of the day with Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) so he didn’t get the blame.
With his plan in motion, the drama returned to the two sisters, who proceeded to continue their row outside the pub.
Manpreet discover her sister was going to plant a batch of heroin in Dawn’s house and as Meena tried to wriggle out of it, the GP said she knew she was lying.
You’re trying to destroy my life
The beloved villager also explained she knew her sister was lying about being pregnant and agreed with Carol that the villain was dangerous.
Manpreet said she would help her sister get some therapy for her psychotic ways but the killer hit back as she said no one would believe her.
“Like anyone would believe a word you say after your little text message debacle,” the villain muttered, to which her sister replied: “You may have succeeded in turning half the village against me but the police will see it differently.”
“Try it, I’ll tell everyone you’re trying to destroy my life because you have made such a mess of your own,” Meena declared.
As one thing led to another, it seemed the murderer was going to strip again as she smashed a bottle and threatened her sibling.
Just as Meena was about to strike Manpreet, Al’s plan came into fruition as the pub exploded in a blaze of glory, knocking down the warring sisters.
With spoilers post-Christmas being released, viewers already know the pair will survive the devastation but this could make for a sinister revenge plot.
As the pair are treated for their injuries, Meena could spread more vicious lies as she tells everyone she has miscarried.
Taking the lie even further, she could state her sister is to blame as she was the one who caused the explosion in the first place.
This would mean the beloved villager would be framed for both a fire she didn’t start and the murder of a child she did not commit.
As Meena has made it impossible for anyone to believe Manpreet, the GP would find she has no one other side to defend her.
Her love interest Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) could think his former lover was responsible and Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) might also think it was possible.
Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) would also be raging with the beloved villager for murdering his baby as he never doubted his former lover was pregnant.
They could each tell the authorities how much the medical professional has lied to them in the past, making Meena’s lies even more believable.
Unfortunately, this could see Manpreet more isolated than ever as her world comes tumbling down around her, with no one to turn to.
Meanwhile, Al would be staying silent about everything as someone else is framed for his crimes, he would be happy.
This could set in motion the next chapter of Meena’s story which will see her kidnap her sister and hold her hostage.
It has been revealed the GP will discover everything her sister has done and will be held captive away from the village in the coming weeks.
Whether she makes it out of her ordeal alive or not is yet to be seen as she could become her sister’s fifth victim.
But will anyone try and track her down when they realise she has mysteriously disappeared or will they all be manipulated by Meena’s lies?
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode airing on Thursdays at 8pm.
