Emmerdale was full of drama on Wednesday night as Wendy Posner and Victoria Sugden were held at gunpoint at The Hide by her ex Russ in tense scenes.

Only recently, Russ (Rob Jarvis) has been terrorising Wendy (Susan Cookson) after he discovered that his mother had left a large sum of money to his grandson and Victoria's child Harry.

And after realising that his manipulation hadn't worked on Victoria in order to get the money, he finally came to the end of his tether as he held them both at gunpoint, demanding he get the inheritance.

Russ, who had been blackmailing Wendy about her past as another way to get the cash, also forced her to come clean about her secret as she admitted that she never actually qualified as a nurse.

During the tense scenes, the newcomer confiscated their phones, keys and handed over a device to Victoria, demanding that she transfer over the cash.

However, what Russ doesn't realise, is that an unaware David Metcalfe is upstairs at The Hide using the scanner while listening to music on his headphones.

During the hostage scenes, Russ warned that if anyone else turned up that they would be hurt as he threatened: "Be grateful that it's just the three of us and you pray that it stays that way."

To which the ITV soap then cut to a scene of David wearing his headphones while scanning documents, totally unaware of the situation going on below him.

Will David realise in time before it's too late and will he get hurt if he does attempt to rescue the two characters?

And the drama is far from over in upcoming scenes as a siege ensues and, shortly afterwards, the whole village is alarmed when a shot rings out — what has Russ done and are Wendy and Victoria okay?

Only recently Emmerdale fans went wild as they recognised newcomer Russ, who is played by Rob Jarvis, from BBC's Hustle where he played barman Eddie between 2004 to 2012.

Taking to Twitter, one soap watcher wrote: "Oh my days ive worked out where ive seen russ before its eddie from #hustle I do miss that show #emmerdale."
