Everything you need to know about the new Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett
Entertainment company Disney is not slowing down with big productions for its streaming service Disney+.
One of its flagship franchises is Star Wars, which the brand own after purchasing LucasFilm in 2012.
Spin-off series are hugely popular at the moment and the company also owns Marvel Entertainment, which has a range of series that derive from films about popular comic book heroes.
A spin-off allows superfans to delve further into the world they love and gives opportunities for crossover episodes to delight fans even further.
They have already done so with the Mandalorian series featuring baby Yoda, and have now commissioned a new series about one of the trilogy's lesser-known characters, Boba Fett.
So who is Boba Fett and when will the series be available?
Who is Star Wars character Boba Fett?
Boba Fett only has a limited amount of screen time and is known to have first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, the second Star Wars film released in 1980.
This was the live-action debut, but Star Wars enthusiasts will note that Boba first appeared in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.

We see Boba as a young child in Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), where his father Jango is killed by Jedi Mace Windu.
Eventually, Boba dons the Mandalorian armour and becomes a bounty hunter. He tries to capture Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back, before being seemingly killed off in Return of the Jedi (1983).
What is The Book of Boba Fett about?
Boba Fett was confirmed to have survived his apparent demise, of being inadvertently thrown in a Sarlacc pit, after showing up in The Mandalorian series.
At the end of the series, Boba takes over the remnants of Jabba the Hutt's old crime empire, whom he previously worked for.
The new series shows exactly how Boba escaped his death in Return of the Jedi, exciting fans and ending a 38-year-old mystery and focusses on how Boba and Fennec begin to take over Jabba's old empire.
Temuera Morrison stars as Boba Fett, with Ming-Na Wen portraying Fennec Shand, the partner of Boba.
The appeal of the character has remained popular despite the more obvious choices for fans to root for in the original film series.

Charles Soule, author of the current Star Wars comic-book series said to Firstpost: "It isn’t so much the things that Boba Fett does in the films.
"Everybody that encounters Boba Fett is either intimidated by him, interested in him or wants to use him for the hardest possible jobs He has this incredibly vivid place in the Star Wars galaxy outside of his appearances onscreen."
Where and when can I watch The Book of Boba Fett?
The Book of Boba Fett is available on Disney+ to stream from December 29, 2021, where you can enjoy the adventures on the planet Tattoine.
The first series is expected to have seven episodes that will drop weekly. New episodes will appear every Wednesday at 8am in the UK.
Those who do not currently have a subscription to the service can sign up for a £7.99 monthly payment.

The spin-off series aims to fill in much of the gaps for big Star Wars fans. The show's creator John Favreau said: "For people who didn’t grow up at that time, it’s hard to understand how starved we were for information about Star Wars."
