Ex-Page 3 girl Nicola McLean slams ‘disgusting’ Hollyoaks for ‘hypocrisy’ over Sarah Jayne Dunn OnlyFans sacking
NICOLA McLean has hit out at Hollyoaks after Sarah Jayne Dunn was sacked for refusing to stop posting racy content on OnlyFans.
The 40-year-old claims the Channel 4 soap has double standards when it comes to their actresses posing in sexy snaps – pointing out the many official Hollyoaks Babes calendars.
After posting many examples of stars including Jorgie Porter and Jennifer Metcalfe, who play feisty McQueen ladies Theresa and Mercedes, posing on the covers of lad mags, Nicola said: "This was ok? Because it was beneficial to the show but OnlyFans only benefits @sarahjaynedunn so she get the sack.
"So is the the truth that it's ok for Lime [Pictures, Hollyoaks' production company] to tell their actresses when to sexualise their bodies for the benefit of show PR?
"Because these shoots were sexy AF and they seemed fine about them. But when a grown woman makes her own choice to financially benefit from being sexy then it's a problem?
Mum-of-two Nicola is one of the UK's most successful glamour models and posed for The Sun's Page 3 from 1999 to 2004. She's spoken out many times in the past defending women's rights to make money from their bodies, and she has praised Sarah Jayne, 40, for standing up for herself.
Nicola told The Sun: "I’m disgusted with Hollyoaks. I suspect that what Sarah Jayne is posting on her OnlyFans is nowhere near as sexy as the magazines that Hollyoaks were happy to put their actresses on the covers of when it suited them.
"I think they should be ashamed of themselves, they are hypocrites. It shouldn’t be up to a production company to control when a woman can and can’t be sexy. Sarah Jayne looks amazing and I’m so glad that she stood up for herself over this matter."
Sarah Jayne, 40, has played Mandy Richardson on Hollyoaks on and off since 1996 and most recently reprised her role in 2017.
This week we revealed how she'd been sacked after refusing to stop posting on OnlyFans, despite receiving a warning weeks ago.
She told The Sun: "I’m disappointed it has come to this, after so many years. I’ve loved being on Hollyoaks and I will miss the amazing cast and crew very much. But I feel like I had to take a stand.
"The pictures I’ve put on OnlyFans are no more explicit than the sort of things I’ve done in the past for magazines and even for Hollyoaks’ own official calendar."
A spokesperson for Hollyoaks defended the decision to axe Sarah Jayne, saying: "Hollyoaks is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.
“We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.
“We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans."
