FEAR Street fans have called out Netflix for recycling an iconic TV set – but do you recognise it?

The film was released on the streaming service last week and is the first installment in the Fear Street Trilogy.

The film – full title Fear Street Part One: 1994 – follows a group of teenagers who discover that terrifying events that have occurred in their town, Shadyside, Ohio, could be connected.

To make matters worse, they realise they could be the next targets.

However, some viewers couldn't help but notice something familiar about scenes set in a shopping mall and became convinced it was Starcourt Mall in Stranger Things.

Sadly they were mistaken, as the North DeKalb Mall in Georgia was renovated for filming on Fear Street, while Starcourt is filmed in the closed ‘ghost mall’ Gwinnett Place in Duluth, Minnesota.

The movie does share some of the same filming locations as Stranger Things around the state of Georgia though.

One Reddit user shared their findings, writing: "The police station in FS is Hawkins Post!"

The building can be found at 6981 Main Street Lithonia in Georgia and is used as the home of the local newspaper in the hit series.

The Netflix slasher film features its fair share of suspense, blood and guts, and it has left many viewers on edge.

The film is directed by Leigh Janiak and is based on the book series of the same name by R.L. Stine, who also wrote the Goosebumps series of novels.

The cast includes Kiana Madeira, Olivia Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr, and Maya Hawke, who also stars in Stranger Things.

The second part of the trilogy, titled Fear Street Part 2: 1978, will be released on July 9 while Fear Street Part 3: 1666 will follow on July 16.

Stranger Things series 1-3 and Fear Street Part 1: 1994 are available on Netflix.
