Judge Rinder was married to his ex-husband by Hollywood A-lister best friend
Film and TV fans may recognise this actor for playing Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series but he also officiated Judge Rinder's wedding.
Benedict Cumberbatch, 45, who met Robert Rinder at the University of Manchester, was one of the reasons Robert gave up acting.
The two stars have a friendship that goes back decades.
Judge Rinder married Seth Cumming, also a barrister, in 2013, in Ibiza.
Benedict was ordained by the Universal Life Church ministerial ordination.
Judge Rinder returned the favour by being one of three best men at Cumberbatch's wedding to Sophie Hunter in 2015.
Speaking to OK! Benedict said that officiating his old friend’s ceremony was a “private” but “lovely” thing to be asked to do.
The couple apparently tried to keep things secretive, but pictures of the wedding got leaked after they went on social media.
Judge Rinder, 43, said: "We got married, it's no secret, but no one was supposed to know – somebody put the pictures on Facebook."
Unfortunately, Judge Rinder’s marriage ended in 2018, after 11 years together.
At the time a source told The Sun: “It’s very sad news but Rob is separating from his partner of 11-and-a-half years.
“He’s very upset about the situation, but the split is amicable and no one else is involved.”
Since hosting the UK version of Judge Judy, Judge Rinder has become a household name.
In 2019 he was made the host of Channel 4’s The Rob Ringer Verdict.
Benedict, 45, who was born in Hammersmith and is the son of two actors, has also played British hero Alan Turing, Doctor Strange in Avengers, Colonel Mackenzie in 1917 and many other blockbuster roles.
In 2016 Judge Rinder revealed that Benedict is the reason he gave up acting after going up for the same role as him in an audition.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Robert said: “I thought I’d done well, then I saw him deliver exactly the same lines and it was so different.
“He had a fizz, a chemistry and an understanding of the text that you just knew was what the writer wanted it to sound like.”
