Love Island viewers in hysterics as Michael 'stitches up' Joe by telling him to interrupt Lucie's chat with Tommy Fury
LOVE Island viewers were in hysterics last night after Michael Griffiths stitched up Joe Garratt in the most brutal way.
The 27-year-old fireman encouraged Joe to interrupt a chat between Tommy Fury and his love interest Lucie Donlan – only to see him fall flat on his face.
Michael was giving Joe some of the worst advice ever when he encouraged the 22-year-old to cut in, urging him: "Go over there and chat away."
He replied: "What, now?"
The Liverpudlian responded: "Yeah do it now. F*** it, do it now."
But when he went over with a cheery: "Yo Lucie, you up for a chat? Is that calm?" an icy chill descended over the sun-drenched villa.
An unimpressed-looking Lucie replied: "I think we'll have this one, then…"
"Sweet," Tommy said, already walking away. "Just let me know when you're done."
Fans all seemed to think Michael had thrown hapless Joe under the bus.
One tweeted: "Michael: *launches Joe into Lucie and Tommy's midst* So much for fighting fire."
A third said: "Ah Michael…. Now you’ve made Joe look MORE OF A FOOL ??♀️."
Another asked: "Did Michael really think telling Joe to speak to Lucie was a good idea? Especially when she's speaking to Tommy?"
One other explained: "Michael just taught Joe a valuable lesson."
Joe and Lucie have been on shaky ground ever since she was picked by Tommy to go on a date with him.
His jealous reaction when she returned has seen their relationship plunged into turmoil, with Joe making ever-more desperate attempts to win her back.
Tommy and Lucie were getting to know each other on one of the day beds, with Joe and Michael watching on.
It looked like Joe was struggling to win her back – until viewers threw him a lifeline by sending Tommy off on a date with a new Islander.
As the episode ended last night, he was seen smirking as the 20-year-old Manchester lad headed off to a hot tub in the Hideaway with Molly-Mae Hague.
