Phillip Schofield vows never to do Im A Celeb due to baffling tin can phobia

Phillip Schofield has vowed never to take part in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! because he couldn't stand the eating utensils.

The 59-year-old presenter admitted on This Morning that he would "starve to death" as a result.

He raised the peculiar concern as the presenters discussed the ITV show's upcoming series which starts on Sunday, November 21.

His main gripe with the show was not the snakes, spiders or testicle smoothies, but rather the cans that contestants are forced to eat out of.

Phillip explained: "Well, I've always said I'm A Celeb is the only one I would do.

"But I wouldn't do it… I don't think. But I couldn't do it because they eat out of those metal cans with metal spoons, and I've got goosebumps even thinking about it.

"But scraping the spoon on the tin can, I couldn't do it, I'd starve to death!"

The issue was raised on This Morning after the full line-up for I'm A Celeb 2021 was announced.

This year's series will feature The Saturdays star Frankie Bridge, football legend David Ginola, Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley and music producer Naughty Boy among others.

Phillip's revelation came during an odd episode of This Morning as his regular co-host Holly Willoughby was nowhere to be seen.

The 40-year-old had called in sick with a stomach bug just one hour before the show was due to start.

Former Big Brother star Josie Gibson was parachuted in as a replacement, and in a bizarre twist she revealed that a "witchy" friend had predicted the change of plans.

The night before Josie had been catching up with Margaret who had previously appeared on This Morning to discuss loneliness during lockdown.

Josie explained: "I always check in on her and give her a ring to see how she is.

"Last night I phoned her. She's such a character, she's such a beautiful soul. I give her a call and she said: 'Josie you know I'm quite spiritual, you're going to get a call and you're going to be presenting This Morning'.

"She said: 'I'm a little bit witchy and I've got this sixth sense that you're going to present This Morning'."

Stunned, Phillip described it as an "unbelievable coincidence".
