Piers Morgan slams Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as he brands ITV 'a seething hotbed of backstabbing liars'
PIERS Morgan slammed Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield this morning, branding ITV "a seething hotbed of backstabbing liars" in a passionate rant.
The 54-year-old star's rage was triggered by the National Television Awards, with Holly and Phil's daytime show regularly beating Good Morning Britain at the ceremony.
The programmes are once again going head to head for the Best Live Magazine Show, but Piers vowed to boycott the do because he knows that they won't win.
Encouraging viewers NOT to vote for GMB, Piers seethed: "Holly and Phil go: 'What? Us? Us? Little old us? For the 55th consecutive year?'
"They do their whole: 'We’re all one big happy family at ITV'."
Fuelling speculation that there is unrest backstage at the TV network, Piers continued: "Everyone knows we’re a seething hotbed of backstabbing liars, charlatans, drunkards.
"They know who they are."
Regaining his composure, the star jokingly added: "Anyway, I wish Holly and Phil all the best, I’ve got my fingers crossed guys.
"Hope you do it again."
Holly and Phil weren't the only victims of Piers' acid-tongue today, with the presenter going on to slam Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for always winning the Best TV Presenter award.
He fumed: "It’s literally groundhog day. It is ridiculous.
"Even when [Ant] had the year off, walking his dog, he got an award."
Last month, The Sun Online exclusively revealed that there is a "civil war" behind the scenes at This Morning, with a number of presenters formally complaining about Phillip Schofield.
Eight star ITV presenters spoke to us about what they describe as a "toxic" environment at the show.
