Spoilers: Emmerdale star admits uncertain future for Charity and Vanessa

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Vannesa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) were once the perfect couple in Emmerdale, but a series of shattering events resulted in their relationship falling apart.

With Vanessa away at her mum’s, Charity began to feel more and more isolated, and her paranoia led her to believe that Vanessa no longer wanted to be with her.

After crossing paths with newcomer Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), she ultimately succumbed to the alleged chemistry between them, and they shared a passionate kiss — something which would ultimately result in her relationship with Vanessa coming to an end.

Yes, Vanessa was devastated by her fiancee’s betrayal and ultimately dumped her — a decision which led Charity to seek solace in the booze.

However, given just how strong the love between Charity and Vanessa is, one can’t help but wonder if it really is the end? Or is there perhaps some hope?

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, actress Emma Atkins said: ‘She’ll come back after a year off, there’ll be a good bridge of time. They can’t instantly get back together because of all that’s happened.

‘For her to fight for Vanessa would be wonderful but it might be gone and irreparable. If she doesn’t fight, that would be unfortunate – you don’t fall out of love with someone.

‘Vanessa is the only person besides Cain she’s ever truly loved. I’d like to see them flirting and some warmth and maybe have Charity eventually thinking she might have a chance. I think it’s pretty much over but you never know. Cain and Charity had a similar path.

‘I think it is different though because Vanessa is morally upstanding. It would be interesting if Vanessa found love and Charity would be jealous. But to get them together again as end game would be lovely.’
