Steph’s Packed Lunch panel slam Britney Spears’ dad, branding him ‘abusive’
Steph McGovern's Channel 4 panel were raging with Britney Spears' dad Jamie Spears – and called him "outrageous", "controlling" and "abusive" on television this week.
This comes after Britney Spears finally broke her silence in court to call an end to her 13-year-long conservatorship so she could "get her life back" – saying her dad should be "put behind bars".
Her dad, Jamie Spears was originally afforded a temporary conservatorship back in 2008, when the Hit Me One More Time singer was committed to a psychiatric hospital for the second time.
Discussing Britney's feud on Wednesday's episode of Steph's Packed Lunch, the panel were up in arms about the affair and ripped into Britney's dad Jamie for being "controlling" by holding on to the conservatorship – which allows him to control Britney's personal and business affairs.
Broadcaster Jenni Murray was quick to defend Britney and was fuming with Britney's dad, calling him "controlling" and "abusive".
She told Steph: "It's absolutely outrageous. She's the one with the talent, the beauty, the success, the money."
"What sort of father… this is not a good father. This is an outragoues, controlling, horrible, abusive man in my view".
Steph then intervened Jenni's passionate rant to add balance as the host, saying: "He was arguing though that he's doing it in her benefit".
The Women's Hour star then replied quickly: "Yeah, of course he would" which prompted a laugh from Steph and the panel.
