Strictly Come Dancing winner Stacey Dooley joined Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall, comedian Katherine Ryan and rapper KSI in the Bake Off tent for a celebrity special for Stand Up 2 Cancer on Tuesday evening. But despite the challenges all being in the name of charity, it didn’t stop the contestants’ competitive nature from coming out to play. This was no more evident than when Stacey took on Paul Hollywood’s devilishly difficult technical challenge.

After an underwhelming first round in the Bake Off tent to produce a plateful of fondant fancies, the celebs were then tasked with conjuring up a cherry lattice pie.

Channel 4 host Matt Lucas said the pies had to have a “buttery (and) sweet shortcrust pastry,” and that the stars also had to serve with a side of homemade custard.

Given nothing but the ingredients and a vague sheet of instructions, Prue Leith and Paul left the tent to let the contestants get to work.

Matt soon approached Stacey to see how she was going to tackle the complex dish, but she had some rather underhand tactics up her sleeve.

“Well, I’ll talk you through my process,” she said to Matt as he listened intently.

“I sort of try to familiarise myself with the instructions,” Stacey continued.

“And then I look over at Katherine,” the presenter cheekily admitted.

Seeing the funny side of Stacey’s admission, Matt began to tease her.

Matt chimed in: “I’ll tell you what I like about that, it’s cheating.”

However, the pair kept Stacey’s plans under wraps as the Bake Off presenter went exploring around the rest of the tent.

And given how the rest of the stars’ technical challenge played out, it looked like they should have been taking notes off of Little Mix’s Jade instead.

In fact, KSI’s creation was branded the “worst I’ve ever seen” by Paul.

And Katherine’s custard was blasted by Paul and Prue – as was Stacey’s.

“You could put up wallpaper with that,” Paul said of Stacey’s custard, which drew laughter from all of the celebs.

Needless to say, it was Jade who finished in first place above her fellow famous contestants in the technical aspect.
