The Chase fans gobsmacked as Corrie legend loses £152,000 in tense showdown

Coronation Street legend Sally Lindsay impressed viewers after she opted for the high offer during an episode of The Chase Celebrity Special.

Bradley Walsh hosted the popular gameshow, which saw singer Lance Ellington, gymnast Beth Tweddle, jockey Bob Champion and former Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay take on the chaser in the hopes of winning money for their chosen charities.

The celebrities were up against Jenny Ryan, also known fondly as The Vixen – with three of the four getting through to the final round.

Sally was last to take to the podium, answering quick-fire questions in order to move on to the multiple choice questions in the next round.

After winning a spectacular £8,000, Jenny then offered the former Corrie star a huge amount of money that she found it impossible to refuse.

Jenny offered Sally a whopping £152,000 – leaving Bradley and the trio sitting on the panel completely taken aback.

After mulling it over and saying how it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, Sally took the plunge and accepted The Vixen's whopper offer.

Viewers at home were gobsmacked by Sally's bold choice, as well impressed by her brains, with one fan taking to Twitter to say: "#TheChase Sally Lindsay much brighter than I had realised."

But Sally lost out on the incredible offer and was unfortunately kicked off the show before the Final Chase, leaving her three teammates to face Jenny in the final round.

She was caught by the chaser just one question from home.

One fan commiserated on Twitter: "Bad luck Sally but you did try well!"

With a total of £8,000, the three celebs took on Jenny and gained a respectable 15 steps, but with 28 seconds to spare she answered the final question and caught the final three celebrities.

As always, Bradley gave each of the celebrities £1,000 for their chosen charities – something which made them all smile after the brutal game they had all just played.

The Chase airs at 5pm on weekdays on ITV
