Actress Josephine Jobert has opened up about receiving intense messages and tweets from Death in Paradise fans blaming her for the way season 10 ended. Fans will recall DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) went to confess his feelings for Florence but viewers never got to see what happened.
After last season, the French actress and singer revealed she had to take time away from her social media.
While discussing the new season, Josephine, 36, said she was contacted by fans and asked to explain her actions as viewers said, “you cannot do this to us!.”
When asked what she thought of the audience’s reaction to the cliff-hanger ending, she detailed: “I received so many messages on my Instagram, I didn’t go on Twitter because it was on fire!
“They were like, ‘what?! You cannot do this to us!’ They were blaming me, but I was like, ‘I’m not the writer, don’t tell me this is cruel, I know!'”

Excited to return for the new season, she admitted she was also shocked when she first laid eyes on the script for the end of season 10.
“Even when I read the script, I was like, ‘what?’ this is the way it’s ending?” she added.
Despite knowing what happened in the scene having filmed it, she was thrown by how it played out when it came to watching the episode live.
Continuing, she said: “I read the script, shot the scene, and I watched the episode, and even though I knew what was going to happen, I was shocked!”
Putting that behind her, she expressed her excitement about coming back for the new season.
Delighted, she commented: “I’m always very excited to return to a new series since my very first one because it’s always such a pleasure to be on the show.
“Especially after series ten, that was very nice, and the audience responded very well to it.
“The ending was so insane, after the huge cliff-hanger, I couldn’t wait to return and discover what will happen between Neville and Florence…”
Keeping her lips tightly sealed, she didn’t say much about Florence and Neville and if they would get back together.
She simply replied: “Is it friendship, is it a bit more?
“She really likes him, but I think it’s still a bit early for her to get into a new relationship and something serious.”
Fans soon recovered from their shock after last year and took to social media to show their support for the actress at the time.
On hearing of the show’s return Stephen Vincent said: “Thank God’ Death in Paradise’ is back, I’m loving Ralf Little and thank you again, God, Josephine Jobert has returned, what else could anyone hope for.”
“Enjoy watching death in Paradise, want to live there although a lot of murders happen. Nothing to do with Joséphine Jobert of course,” Simon Cross jested.
They are known for having great cast lineups, so who are the Death in Paradise season 11 guest stars?
Death in Paradise, creator Tim Key told press, including Express.co.uk: “We’ve announced all sorts of people, we do attract great stars, the joke is that they want to have some time out in Paradise.”
Season 11 episode one aired on January 7 and continues every Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
