The actor is best known for starring as a copper in The Bill.

He is of Italian descent and began his acting career at East 15 Acting School where he trained to become an actor.

George is most recognised for his appearance in the police drama The Bill which first aired in 1983 on ITV.

George Rossi passed away at the age of 61 on January 5, 2022.

The star is survived by his wife Catrin and two children Santino and Maltilda.

Who did George Rossi play in The Bill?

George played the role of fan favourite DC Duncan Lennox from 1998 to 2003.

His close friend and casting director Claire Toeman said in her tribute: "Rest in peace George Rossi you were the dearest of friends you will be sorely missed."

She also went on to add, "He will always be remembered for portraying one of the most popular faces on The Bill in the late 90s."

Fans shared their condolences on Twitter with one sharing, "Gutted to hear #GeorgeRissu has died."

Another fan said, "RIP #GeorgeRossi loved him in The Bill and in the classic film Comfort and Joy."

What other TV shows was he in?

George rose to fame after starring in Comfort and Joy in 1984 alongside his brother Peter.

George has been in a huge number of films and TV shows since his first appearance on TV in the 1980s.

He appeared in the 1990 film The Big Man alongside Liam Neeson.

The star later returned to Italy, where his family originates, to star as a police sergeant in Roseanna's Grave.

George later starred in a variety of TV shows and movies including: Max Headroom (1985), Taggart (1992-1998), Roughnecks (1994), Boon (1987-1990) and Doctors (2013).

His final acting gig was in 2020 where he starred as David in the film Le Cineaste – A Director’s Journey.
