Will Young exposed as Lion Fish on Masked Singer leaving ITV viewers gobsmacked

Lion Fish has become the third character to be given the boot from the latest series of The Masked Singer UK.

The wacky ITV guessing game show returned to our screens on Saturday night for the third instalment of the third season.

Firework, Mushrooms, Lion Fish, Doughnuts and Robobunny all took to the stage for the second time this series.

The five characters sung their hearts out in a bid to impress the studio audience and celebrity detectives Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.

After five show-stopping performances, host Joel Dommett announced the names of the contestants in danger of being axed.

Lion Fish and Firework found themselves in the dreaded sing off and Mo, Davina, Rita and Jonathan were later forced to decide which character to send home.

The panel decided to unmask Lion Fish and waited patiently find out their true identity.

Fans were left gobsmacked as Pop Idol winner Will as exposed as the famous face behind the wacky costume.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Will Young? I thought it was Chris Moyles."

Another added: "Doesn’t seem right for Will Young to have gone out so early. So talented!!!"

A third person posted: "Who knew it was Will Young then? I didn't."

While a fourth social media user said: "OMG, so wrong! Will Young… defo didn’t see that."

M People star and singing sensation Heather Small became the first celebrity to leave the competition last week.

The singing sensation performed a rendition of Patsy Cline's Crazy while dressed in a Chandelier costume.

However, she failed to impress the detectives and they decided to send her home.

Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford was the second celebrity to be given the boot from the show.

The television personality was exposed as Snow Leopard after panelist Jonathan correctly guessed she was hiding in the disguise.

Since leaving the show, Gloria told Daily Star: ""What is really surprised me is the amount of secrecy and how they manage to keep it all under wraps.

"They said honestly you can't tell your other halves but I did, and they were very good."

"I haven't a clue who else is in the programme. I watched it last night and I had really tried not to let my Irish accent out so much."
