Female teacher accused of sexting student, 13, fired over alleged romp in cinema

A teacher has been sacked months after she was arrested for alleged sex romps with a 13-year-old student.

Authorities in the US state of Kentucky have charged Micca Watts-Gordon with a range of offences and now she has been fired.

Local news channel WDRB reports the now former Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) teacher is accused of numerous crimes relating to the student.

Renee Murphy, the school district's communications chief, revealed to the station that they fired her on April 22 but declined to say specifically why.

Watts-Gordon, 37, was indicted in October last year on the charges.

She denies them all which include first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, use of a minor in a sexual performance, distributing obscene content to a minor and six counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

The child involved was 13 years old at the time and was one of her student at the W.E.B. DuBois Academy, in Louisville.

JCPS initially reassigned Watts-Gordon to non-teaching duties in November 2019.

Court records allege she "committed several sex offenses with her student" from August 25, 2019, until November 19, 2019.

Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney Tom Wine accused Watts-Gordon of forcing the teen to touch her vagina, attempting to perform oral sex on him, touching his penis in a cinema in October 2019, and exchanging "numerous" inappropriate pictures and videos with the student.

Watts-Gordon allegedly "sent photos and videos of her breasts and vagina, including a video of her masturbating," the court filing says. "In return, the defendant asked for and received photos of the victim’s penis and videos of him masturbating," it adds.

Mr Wine writes in the documents that the former teacher allegedly told the boy to wipe every digital transaction between them and to keep quiet. She also deleted her social media accounts.

However, they still communicated with each other digitally thought a third party.

The most severe charges against the teacher are Class B felonies, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Watts-Gordon is no longer in custody after posting $10,000 (£7,200) bail, court records show. Her trial date is set for November 2.
