Frederick police fatally shoot man after exchanging gunfire
Police in Frederick exchanged gunfire with a man early Thursday morning, killing him, police said.
At about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Frederick Police Department responded to the 200 block of 7th Street on a report of shots fired, police stated in a news release.
“Upon arrival, responding officers and a citizen came under gunfire from a residence in the area,” the release stated.
Multiple agencies, including the Firestone Police Department, the Mead Police Department, and the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene.
“During the incident, officers fired at an adult male subject who was struck and pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.
No officers or members of the public were injured.
The 19th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation into the police shooting. The suspect will be identified by the Weld County Coroner’s Office after his family has been notified.
