Iran 'plotting ASSASSINATION of US ambassador and longtime Trump friend Lana Marks' as revenge for Soleimani killing

IRAN is weighing an assassination plot against Lana Marks, the United States ambassador to South Africa, a report said on Sunday.

Officials in the US have allegedly been aware of threats against Marks, a longtime friend of President Donald Trump, but intelligence reports have recently become more specific of Iran’s intentions, a government official told Politico.

Officials claim that the Iranian embassy in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, is involved in the sinister plot as Iran seeks revenge for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani – who was killed by a U.S. drone strike in January.

The intelligence community has notified Marks of a “credible threat” against her life under a directive known as “Duty to Warn,” the outlet reported.

Iran bombarded two facilities at a military base in Iraq housing US soldiers just days after Soleimani’s death.

More than 100 soldiers suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries after the attacks on the Al-Asad Air Base, located west of Baghdad.

Trump immediately retaliated with sanctions against the hostile nation – warning it against other retaliatory moves.

“Iran continues to be the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and that Iran has threatened United States military assets and civilians through the use of military force and support to Iranian-backed militia groups,” Trump wrote in an executive order.

He continued: “It remains the policy of the United States to deny Iran all paths to a nuclear weapon and intercontinental ballistic missiles, and to counter the totality of Iran’s malign influence in the region.”

Joe Biden on Sunday slammed Trump’s foreign policy with Iran as “a dangerous failure” in an opinion piece published by CNN.

“I have no illusions about the challenges the regime in Iran poses to America's security interests, to our friends and partners and to its own people. But there is a smart way to be tough on Iran, and there is Trump's way,” Biden said.

Biden said Trump has “ratcheted up tensions” as recent reports indicate Iran has stockpiled Uranium.

“He has lurched into risky escalations that endangered our troops — and then downplayed their brain injuries as ‘headaches,’” Biden said.

Yesterday, a Twitter account allegedly run by the Iranian government slammed the US for actions Iran claims the government has taken to block Iran’s access to medical supplies amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Pres. @HassanRouhani lashed out at the #US for pressuring countries into blocking Iranian assets to prevent it from buying medicines and medical equipment,” @Iran_GOV tweeted.
