Machete-waving thugs rob bingo hall after forcing staff to open safe

Vicious machete wielding robbers penned workers in an office as they held up a bingo hall.

The armed thugs fled with cash after they forced terrified staff to open a safe and hand over their takings.

Staff where shepherded into an office before before being threatened with machetes, cops said.

Detectives said the suspects remain at large, BirminghamLive reported.

Police were called to Castle Bingo in Wooley Castle, in Birmingham, on Thursday evening.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police told BirminghamLive that staff had been left “shaken” by the “frightening incident”.

The thugs fled with a “large quantity” of cash, detectives said.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police told BirminghamLive: "We were called to reports of an armed robbery at Castle Bingo on Barnes Hill, Birmingham at around 10pm on Thursday (3 September).

"Two men armed with machetes threatened staff and pulled them into an office.

“Two members of staff in the cash office, were forced to hand over a large amount of cash from the safe.

"Fortunately none of the workers were injured, but understandably have been left shaken by this frightening incident."

Castle Bingo for comment had not yet commented on the robbery.
