Mad festival where revellers dress like murderous clowns and share double bongs

Music festival season is still in full swing as revellers take to random fields and drink copious amounts of alcohol all while enjoying their favourite bands on stage.

But one festival in the United States state of Ohio took it all to the extreme.

The 22nd annual Gathering of the Juggalos – this year called the Gathering of Dreams – took place over the weekend from August 3 to 7.

It is a no-holds-barred event organised by notorious rap group, and former WWE stars, The Insane Clown Posse, comprising of Violent J, Shaggy 2 Dope and Jumpsteady and group The Juggalos.

A juggalo, for those wondering, is the name bestowed upon fans of the ICP.

Around 15,000 fans attend the festival each year, and this year's one was as chaotic as the rest.

Images taken over the weekend show fans sharing double-ended bongs (for totally legal drugs, we assume), taking part in a hot dog-eating competition and listening to spoken word poetry performed by Mexican wrestling legend and former WCW star Vampiro – there really is something for everyone.

And to top it all off, everyone in attendance dons face paint and outfits to make themselves look like murderous clowns, which is the signature look of the Insane Clown Posse.

Two fans opened up about the experience to The Daily Beast.

  • Future WWE star hunted down by police just months after signing contract

The first, known only as Pat said: “The juggalos are great, the culture is great, but that’s just extra. “It’s more about ICP for me.”

While Justin was a little more blunt about why he goes to the chaotic event.

He said: “This is what we live for every year.

“You just forget about all the bulls**t when you’re here.

“The rest of the world doesn’t mean s**t while we’re here.

“This is home, this is family.”

  • Fans of legendary wrestler Ric Flair, 73, 'glad he didn't die' in bloody last match ever

The event features two music stages – the Joke Ya Mind stage and the Nightmare stage.

On the JYM stage this year was Babytron, Egyptian Lover, Fat Nick, Freewill and the aforementioned Insane Clown Posse.

And on the Nightmare stage was Big Hoodoo, Dana Denatata, Esham, Guerrilla Warfare and Scythe Gang 666.

For those looking for more chaos, Violent J holds a dance party every year, called Dance with the Dead.

The website description of it reads: “Kick the cemetery dirt off your dancing shoes and get that grave wax out of your ears, it’s time to boogie!

  • WWE star Natalya sizzles in bikini snap to celebrate special day with OnlyFans sister

“Straight from the barrio boneyard, your hosts Rude Boy and DJ Carlito will be spinning hit after hit featuring exclusively the music of artists who are no longer with us…or are they?”

The cost of attending this madness is around £200 just for entry, with another £100 needed just to get your car into the venue.

If you fancied staying in a specially erected chaotic campsite, suitable for around 30 people, you'd have to fork out around £450.

However, the website adds: “There is no running water.”

We're guessing that the lack of water somehow adds to the ambiance of the Juggalo gathering.
