Mum left fuming at ‘Britain’s harshest parking ticket’ as tyre an inch over line
A mum-of-two was slapped with “Britain’s harshest parking ticket” after her car tyre stuck out an inch over a line.
Rebecca Edge had left almost all of her family car entirely within the designated bay and paid for a ticket.
So she was shocked to find a Penalty Charge Notice left on her vehicle.
She then took a series of pictures that showed her front right tyre had just crossed the line.
And after sharing the images on social media, members of the public described it as “the harshest parking ticket ever.”
Rebecca, 35, of Teignmouth, Devon, a mother of three-year-old twins, has now appealed against the £50 fine issued by Torbay Council.
She said: “It is tricky to park there and the wheel has gone just about an inch over the line. One edge of the tyre is slightly over, but the entire body of the car is within the bay.
“It just seems so ridiculous and very petty. It feels incredibly unfair.”
She has launched an appeal but has yet to get any response from the council.
Torbay Council said: “When we receive a challenge to a penalty charge notice we need to investigate it fully, and it would not be appropriate for us to comment further on the case at this stage.”
