Prince Harry says he’d leave California behind for place he’d ‘happily live’ in

Prince Harry has revealed the place he'd "happily live" in – and it' not in the US or the UK.

The Duke of Sussex hinted he might consider ditching California, where he has lived with wife Meghan Markle since 2020, in favour of a country all the way across the Pacific Ocean.

Speaking on Wednesday (August 9) at the International Sports Promotion Society (ISPS) Sports Values – Summer Edition summit in Tokyo, Japan, Harry, 38, expressed his love for the country and told audience members he'd up sticks and move there "if you'd have me".

"Your warmth, your compassion, your generosity, every single element of the Japanese culture is really unique and very, very special," he said.

"I noticed it my first visit four years ago when I came for the Rugby World Cup. And I would happily live here if you’d have me."

It's not just the warm reception tempting the Prince away from his home Stateside – Harry said he was especially fond of Japanese food, too, gushing about "the most incredible Kobe steak" which he had for "both for dinner last night and lunch today."

He continued: "Thank you for your hospitality. I have really, really enjoyed being here in Japan again and I’m looking forward to my next visit."

Harry made the brief visit to Japan solo, leaving Meghan and the couple's two children, Archie and Lilibet, back home in the US.

During his trip he was also spotted hanging out with polo champion Ignacio "Nacho" Figueras, who has been a firm friend of the Prince since 2007.

Harry's wanderlust comes following rumours the Sussexes were considering leaving their Montecito mansion for pastures anew.

A source close to the ex-royals said the pair have been eyeing up a move to Malibu, Meghan's home town.

"Harry and Meghan are reviewing their living options with Malibu being a place of interest," the insider claimed last month.

"They have secretly visited the area a couple of times and have been out and about, looking at what’s there.

"And Meghan knows parts of the region from being there as a kid.

"It is uncertain if they will sell Montecito or just add a Malibu spot to buy."
