The British nationals were both working as humanitarian relief volunteers for UK non-profit organisation Presidium Network, which confirmed that they had been captured.

The organisation provides support to communities in crisis to manage humanitarian issues and represent the needs of people affected by violence or poverty to international-policy makers.
