Two people died in a plane crash as a gender reveal stunt went horribly wrong.
Tragedy struck off the coast of Mexico after an expectant couple arrange for a small plane to drag a banner behind it to reveal whether they were having a boy or a girl.
The shocking incident happened above the Caribbean Sea in the Nichupte Lagoon off the coast of Cancun in the southeast of the country.
A couple and guests were celebrating a gender reveal party and were all watching from a boat. They can be heard cheering as the light aircraft performed tricks above them.
People can then be heard screaming "it's a girl" repeatedly as they saw a banner trailing behind the plane revealing the gender of the baby.
One onlooker could be heard saying jokingly: "It's all good as long as it doesn't end up crashing into us."
But the relaxed atmosphere quickly turned to one of horror as people realised the plane was heading directly into the sea.
The Cessna-type plane crashed into the water and disappeared under the waves.
Among the screams of horrified eyewitnesses the person recording the stunt could be heard saying: "Surely this can't be happening?"
The navy came to the aid of those involved in the crash. They recovered the pilot and the co-pilot from the water, but one died during the rescue and the other was declared dead while receiving first aid on dry land.

Local media reported that the plane had been rented from party company Xomex and the Federal Civil Aviation Agency has begun its investigation into what caused the crash.
It is not the first time tragedy has struck after a gender reveal went wrong.
Earlier this year, a man was killed at a baby shower party after a gender reveal cannon reportedly exploded spraying shrapnel everywhere.
Evan Silva, 26, was fatally injured in the blast in the US state of Michigan.
The victim was said to be standing near to where the cannon’s fuse was lit during the party and a piece of shrapnel hit him in the chest.
