Two more members of NYPD die from coronavirus

Another two members of the NYPD family have died due to the coronavirus as the number of sick uniformed officers has soared.

Veteran schools safety agent Luis Albino died on Friday from complications due to coronavirus after spending nearly 20 years on the force, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea announced Friday.

Auxiliary Police Lt. Pierre Moise, who served the voluntary force since 1994, also passed away due to the disease, Shea said.

“Since 1994, Pierre dutifully served the people of Brooklyn,” Shea tweeted. “Tonight, our thoughts are with his loved ones, & with his entire, extended NYPD family.”

The two are the latest of a total now of seven in the NYPD family to die due to COVID-19 or related complications.

The department has grappled with a surging number of employees who have either called out sick or tested positive for the virus.

As of Friday, 1,839 NYPD employees — 1,619 uniformed members and 220 civilian members — tested positive for the coronavirus, up 53.3 percent from Tuesday, according to the department

Another 6,695 cops are out sick.

“I’m eagerly awaiting when that inversion point happens where the number of people going out sick passes and crosses the people coming back,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said Wednesday.

“I think we’re still climbing the hill.”
