We visit one of the top Wetherspoons in the country every WEEK – here's why we keep coming back | The Sun

PUBGOERS who visit the top-rated Wetherspoons in the country every week have revealed why they keep coming back.

Punters at The Imperial in Exeter, Devon, raved about the quality, price and beautiful setting of the atmospheric watering hole.

One reviewer called the pub an "architectural and historical delight" on account of its striking design.

The former hotel sits on its own grounds with a striking glass and steel barrel-vaulted conservatory, where diners can enjoy 'Spoons favourites.

It was voted the best branch in the famous chain on a TripAdvisor poll and is said to have 247 excellent reviews on the site.

Rachel Smith, 43, recalled being brought to the pub by her dad for her first legal pint on her 18th birthday.

She said: "You know what you are going to get. One of my kids has autism but they know the food and even the plate will be the same in any Wetherspoons pub."

The Imperial was known to her and her sister, Rebecca, in their youth as the "pub down two hills" from their family home.

Fellow customer Nicola Wood, 56, added: "It's very cheap. At my local squash club it is £5 a pint, which is twice as much. I like seeing the regulars."

Meanwhile, Jamie Clow and his pal Aaron Libretto praised the pub's breakfasts, saying that it's " a good start to the day."

The pair come in every Wednesday to enjoy the food and an affordable pint or two.

Going one step further, friends Roger Cockayne, John Holden and Paul Hicks come in every day for their favoured tipple.

Paul, 63, said: "The founder Tim Martin drops in. It's a really friendly place.

"Even when it is packed the staff cope and keep the place under control."

The Imperial is one of four Wetherspoons pubs in the city, but is the most popular, especially given its proximity to both Exeter College and the university campus.
