Woman found dead in Bronx bedroom allegedly beaten to death by son

The woman found dead in her Bronx bedroom this week was bludgeoned to death by her adult son in a jealousy-fueled rage, cops said.

Steven Castro, 40, was busted in connection to the slaying of his 66-year-old mother, Carmen Aponte, whose daughter found her body inside an apartment on Seneca Avenue near Faile Street in Hunts Point around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Castro — who has been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of weapon — is accused of striking his mother with an unspecified blunt object, cops said.

Emergency Medical Service workers pronounced Aponte dead on the scene.

Cops said jealousy was the motive for the slaying, but had no further details.
