Woman in her 40s 'raped' on street as man, 36, held over sex assault and drugs possession

A WOMAN was allegedly raped on a street with cops now quizzing a 36-year-old man over the attack.

The incident occurred last night near the junction of Olton Boulevard East and Dolphin Lane in Birmingham.

The man remains in custody, and was also detained over suspected drug possession.

Meanwhile the woman, in her 40s, is currently being supported by specialist officers.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We've arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of rape and sexually assaulting a woman near the junction of Olton Boulevard East and Dolphin Lane, Acocks Green, last night.

"He was also detained over possession of drugs and remains in police custody for questioning. The woman, aged in her 40s, is currently being supported by specialist officers.

"A scene remains in place while we continue our enquiries."
